Yoga in the Park: Preparing for Summer in Prospect Park

Yoga in the Park: Preparing for Summer in Prospect Park

As the weather warms up, the Tribe often takes its practice outdoors. There is nothing quite like practicing yoga under the trees of Prospect Park. However, transition from a climate-controlled hot room to the elements requires a few adjustments.

Grounding on Uneven Terrain

Practicing on grass is a great way to challenge your stabilizers. Without the perfectly flat floor of the studio, your ankles and core have to work harder to maintain balance in poses like Eagle or Standing Head to Knee.

Sun Protection and Hydration

Even if it's not 105 degrees outside, the Brooklyn sun can be intense. We recommend a high-SPF, sweat-resistant sunscreen and, as always, plenty of water. Bringing a dedicated outdoor mat or a thick towel is also a good idea to protect your gear from the elements.
